Fortune telling interpretation of the oracle

In the event that the response is presented with a single hexagram , the situation is relatively simple it is true, but we know, if nothing else, that it is precisely that hexagram that we must read and interpret in all its evolutions.

In case there is only one line of the first hexagram that changes, we know that it is that line that we must read and the hexagram of its mutation.

Everything gets complicated when there are two or more furniture lines, which one should I choose?
In the event that there are two or more mobile lines in the first hexagram we must understand which line we actually have to read and, consequently, which is the second hexagram (the mutation) that follows.

There is a method, in my opinion, very effective, immediate and that has always given me considerable satisfaction and here I want to share it with you.

A premise must be made : starting from the bottom, each line can have a yin or yang value with its own specific message as shown in the table below.

Be in the present, Interpretation of the Oracle, I-Ching (I King)

Positionyin/yangDescription
Sixth positionyinsymbolizes the end of something or someone
who has now withdrawn from the field of action
indicated by the hexagram
Fifth positionyangis the position of the ruler, the strongest of the
hexagram, because it is central in the upper trigram
Fourth positionyinis the position of the minister, who assists
the sovereign but is inferior to him
Third positionyangis a transitional position, it tends to move towards
the upper trigram but has not yet come out of the lower
Second positionyinis the position of the provincial official, who obeys
the orders of the ruler, is central and therefore
strong only in the lower trigram
First positionyangsymbolizes the beginning of something or someone
waiting to enter the field of action indicated by the hexagram

Based on the data contained in the table above, look at which moving lines there are in your first hexagram, i.e. which lines lead to the change and therefore to the choice and reading of the second hexagram.

1) if there are two moving lines , one yin and one yang, only the moving yin line is consulted.

2) if there are two moving lines , both yin or yang, only the lower of the two is consulted.

3) if there are three mobile lines , only the one in the median position is consulted.

4) if there are four movable lines , only the highest line between the two non-movable lines is consulted.

5) if there are five mobile lines , only the remaining, non-mobile line is consulted.

6) if there are six movable lines , only the general texts of the second hexagram are consulted (except in the case of hexagram 1. The Creative and 2. The Receptive which provide for a particular sentence in the case of six mobile lines).
